Crisp Iceberg Lettuce
is one of the most popular in the United States, from salads to hamburgers. The micro-climates in the Santa Maria Valley, particularly near Guadalupe, are ideal for growing iceberg, with cool daytime temperatures and early morning marine layer. Fresh Kist is able to grow iceberg almost year round, but we do head to the desert during the winter season. The ideal head of Iceberg Lettuce should have a good green color and feel solid or firm. It should be stored at 32 degrees and eaten quickly for optimum freshness.
