Fresh Kist Produce, LLC was formed by a group of grower/shippers in order to more effectively market their collective fresh vegetable production. The companies that now make up Fresh Kist Produce, LLC are Byrd Farms, Gold Coast Packing Co. Inc., PacFresh Produce Inc., and Teixeira Farms in Santa Maria, California.

The owners were concerned about the changes in the marketplace and the poor market conditions that the industry had experienced over the last several years. They realized that they needed to make some dramatic changes in how they were doing business - not only to make a profit, but to survive,  growing and packing fresh vegetables. Each of the owners felt that individually, they could not produce a full line of vegetables, nor the consistent volume to effectively serve the newly evolved retail and food service customers that exist in the current marketplace. The owners felt that by combining their collective vegetable production from Salinas, CA, Santa Maria, CA, Huron, CA and the desert areas of Southern California and Arizona under a strong new marketing entity, that they would be able to better service their customers. All partners agreed that the emphasis of the company would be on providing an excellent quality product as well as great customer service. All partners knew that having year-round production, volume, quality and a service-minded sales staff would enable their new company to better serve the large retail food chains and food service customers.

Fresh Kist's sales office is headquartered in Salinas, California with a branch office that is located in Santa Maria, California. The sales department is organized by Customer Segment. There is a retail sales team, a food service sales team, and export sales team and a bulk and bin sales team. By providing specialized levels of sales and service, Fresh Kist Produce is able to better serve the needs of their customer base.

Each of Fresh Kist Produce's experienced sales personnel is solely responsible for the sales management of one commodity. Likewise, each member of Fresh Kist Produce's field staff is solely responsible for the growth management of one commodity. Both members work closely together to ensure that the highest quality level is achieved on each and every one of their outgoing orders.

The emphasis of Fresh Kist Produce is to provide their customer with superior quality, year-around availability and the highest levels of customer service available in the business.
